About me
I have been teaching in public schools for twenty years and I have learned much in this time. Since leaving my own classroom some twelve years ago, I have supported teachers in every aspect of their work in schools as a coach. This coaching is the work that has been most rewarding and that which I have learned the most about myself and living a life of peace and joy. Recently, my schedule looks different since I am co-caring for my mother. This has given me much more freedom to reflect, write, and listen with my whole heart.
Although I don’t necessarily abide by labels and tend to shuck being boxed in, I could use the following identities that you may also know something about, and in this way know me a bit more. (I could say I am a being, but you would think me silly.) I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. These are all pretty amazing identities that lead decisions both big and small. Other things you might hear me talk about include yoga and meditation, both being a practitioner and aspiring leader. I love gardening and being in nature, traveling and reading. Talking about books is something I need to do–my book club knows me more than most because we have been through all sorts of life experiences together (close to 70 books in 10+ years). I also like to think I’m an artist that hasn’t landed on a medium. I have a close circle of friends–many of them are teachers.
It seems very important right now to write things down. I don’t exactly know what that is all about but I will show up with pen in hand. Writing is the outlet that heals, discovers, and terrifies. Of all the things I fear, I choose writing as the current means to explore and learn. Don’t take anything I say too serious–it’s mostly musings.
